TOBIAS stürmer
Tobias Stürmer is a percussionist, drummer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer. He is a graduate of Mannes College of Music, New York and holds an MMus in Ethnomusicology from SOAS, University of London. Originally from Germany he has studied and performed in Senegal, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and the US. He performs professionally on the English and German Jazz, Latin and African music scenes as well as on the contemporary dance scenes.
He has produced various CDs with original material in Jazz and experimental music as well as music for choreographers and multi – media art exhibitions. He is the artistic director of the music department of the US charity Empowerment Works! which conducts recording projects in Senegal. He has been leading composition, drumming and rhythm workshops all over Europe.
